About Greg Murtagh

Greg Murtagh is a Florida-based business executive with over 31 years of experience in digital media, monetization strategy, customer packaged goods (CPG), and retail marketing. Currently retired, Murtagh has gained recognition for his innovative, influential marketing approaches; he is widely credited as being the first person to implement digital marketing techniques in retail and eCommerce. Throughout his expansive career, Murtagh has worked alongside leading retail entities, advising them in web publishing initiatives to drive advertising revenue and boost eCommerce business.

Greg Murtagh began his career holding roles in sales, retail merchandising, brand management, and shopper marketing within the CPG industry – this included a career in sales and marketing with Procter & Gamble (Vicks). Following the advent of the internet in the 1990s, Murtagh became immersed in the early digital marketing landscape, rising as a pioneering figure within the industry. Murtagh’s past professional experiences were a natural framework for exploring this progressive new marketing medium, and they helped him launch one of the sector’s first digital marketing agencies (eMarketing, Inc.) in 1998. This entity helped set the stage for many common principles and methods defining digital marketing to this day.

Murtagh is perhaps best known as the founder and former CEO of Triad Retail Media, a Florida-based media company established in 2004. Triad is regarded as the first company to deliver targeted digital brand advertising on retail eCommerce websites; this was a key moment in digital marketing’s growth into a viable, enduring advertising sub-sector. The company went on to see inclusion in three different INC “Fastest Growing US Companies” lists. While working with Triad, Murtagh partnered with leading retail brands like Walmart, eBay, Toys R Us, CVS, Sam’s Club, and Dollar General. Triad was bought by the world’s largest marketing group, WPP.

Murtagh holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from The Cox School of Business Management at Southern Methodist University.
